Each week I was given the opportunity to contemplate a topic and reflect on my experiences throughout my time at Dixie State University in the BSN program. Each outcome was thought out and helped me remember and realize just why I became a nurse.
Florence Nightingale said, "Nursing is an art: and if it is to be made an art, it requires an exclusive devotion as hard as preparation, as any painter's or sculptor's work; for what is the having to do with dead canvas or dead marble, compared to having to do with the living body, the temple of God's spirit? It is one of the Fine Arts: I had almost said, the finest of Fine Arts."
The Dixie State University BSN program has helped me appreciate the preparation and dedication that was required of me and helped me so that I can successfully make nursing my art and my passion.
